'Tweeting Bra': Nestle Fitness Company Helps to Increase Breast Cancer Awareness (VIDEO)
A bra that tweets? Now we've heard everything! (Or read, in this case.)
Thanks to Nestle Fitness creative, advertisers recently announced information regarding the "Tweeting Bra" that sends out tweets when a bra becomes unhooked. As part of October marks Breast Cancer Awareness month, this new device is part of a promotional campaign to increase breast cancer awareness.
Nestle Fitness partnered with the Greek advertising agency Oglivy Athens to promote the device in order to remind women to constantly check their breasts for possible symptoms of breast cancer.
The National Breast Cancer organization highly encourages women to self-examine their breasts as early detection can help with treatment options. Adult women should begin breast self-examinations for at least once a month as 40 percent of breast cancer cases reported result from a lump found during a check.
Though mammograms may provide more accurate findings, self-exams can help alert women of initial symptoms of a problem so that proper care can be taken.
The tweeting bra works to remind women to do these self-examinations by having equipment that's placed inside the hooks of the bra. When the bra becomes unclasped, a signal is transmitted to the user's mobile device via a tweet.
"It's the first and only bra that tweets with a mission to remind you one thing you should never forget: your monthly breast self exam," said Nestle Fitness.
The product was originally launched in Greece via celebrity Maria Bakodimus. At this time, the bra is not for sale.
