Some things never change, and that's certainly true about a mother's love. A litter of puppies abandoned by their owner show that the old saying about motherly love is true-it's blind!

Pictured in this facebook photo posted by Rock Ridge Refuge, an Arkansas-based animal rescue group, after a litter of eight Dachshund puppies were left in a Tupperware container outside a church on March 6, a prickly capybara named Cheesecake decided to take them on as her own.

One of the lesser known animals capybara are the largest of the rodent species, according to Animal Planet. Weighing as much as a man, these oversized, pig-like animals are highly adaptable to aquatic life and can even mate in the water. They are typically found in South America and are efficient grazers that can crop in short, dry glasses left at the end of the dry season. They are also capable of a range of vocalizations, including purring and barking. And, like rabbits, you may catch them eating their own feces to extract the maximum nutritional benefits from their food.

Four of the puppies were quickly adopted but the other four stayed at the rescue center, according to ABC News, and just a few days after their arrival, Janice Wolf, the refuge's founder, left Cheesecake in charge of the remaining puppies.

"Saturday was warm and sunny here, so I put Cheesecake in charge of the Doxie pups for the day," she wrote on Facebook.
