Love comes in all shapes and sizes, and that's certainly true for 30-year-old Sultan Kosen and his recent wife, 21-year-old Merve Dibo, who stands at 5 feet 9 inches.

The two met not long after Kosen rose to fame via the Guinness World Records with the official title of the world's tallest man.

"It's really difficult to find a girlfriend," Kosen said back in Sept. 2009 during a trip to the UK. "They are usually scared of me. Hopefully now that I'm famous I'll be able to meet lots of girls. My dream is to be married."

Four years later, Kosen has finally been able to make that dream a reality. In 2010, he underwent a noninvasive radio surgery in Virginia to stop his growth that was caused by a tumor in the pituitary gland. He suffers from a rare hormonal disorder that causes him to continue growing long into adulthood and requires that he use crutches to walk. The disorder is known as acromegaly, and if not treated promptly, it can lead to serious illness and even become life-threatening.

The Guinness Wolrd Records notes that kosen and Dibo met through mutual friends and Kosen traveled from her home of Hasakin in Syria to meet him in Turkey. Even though the two had only been dating two months, they said it was love at first sight.

"When I looked into her eyes, I knew it was love," Kosen recalled to Guinness, while Dibo said: "At first everyone around me told me not to marry him because of his height, but I fell in love with his heart, not his height. His height doesn't bother me at all."
