Faye Campbell, 21, from Suffolk U.K., has been surviving on a junk food diet consisting of cheese burgers, chips and pizzas these past 16 years and weighs only about 57 kilograms. She got into this habit because of food phobia.
Campbell hasn't touched green vegetables or fruits in the last 16 years. She got addicted to chips and survived on them till her mid-teens
She was taken to a child psychologist at age 15, where she was diagnosed with a digestive disorder called gastroesophageal reflux, which causes chronic indigestion and heartburn.
"The thought of eating vegetables or any sort of fruit just makes me feel physically sick," she said, Mirror News reported. "Even putting them near my mouth terrifies me."
It's a miracle how Campbell suffers from no health issues even after following an unhealthy diet past so many years. Even the smell of cooking vegetables makes her feel ill. She consulted a psychologist who recommended she add foods like bread and noodles to her diet.
"If mum is cooking a roast dinner with vegetables I have go in to a different room because I can't stand the smell," she said. "Sometimes I have to open all the windows to get rid of it."
Campbell's mother, Carolyn, 42 tried feeding her veggies when she was young .
"We tried to hide vegetables in her dinner, but she always found out and refused to eat them," Carolyn said.
"When walking around the supermarket I would say to Faye that she could pick anything she wanted, but she just wasn't interested in anything else."
Faye is unable to bear the smell of roasted food the rest of her family members eat, hence she eats her junk food alone in another room.
"I still can't bring myself to eat a roast dinner or a homemade lasagne. It took me a good couple of years to get used to the other foods and I'm still fussy with that," Campbell said.
"There's just something in my brain that says 'ugh' whenever I'm faced with new food and I go in to panic mode. As soon as the phobia kicks in I just can't bring myself to eat - I can't even think about taking a bite."
Campbell is very lucky as she doesn't like exercising and hasn't gained weight even after being high on junk foods over such a prolonged time.
