Australian rangers have shot two crocodiles during the hunt for a young kid who is feared dead after he was snatched by one of the reptiles.

A group of boys' adventure into a crocodile- infested region in Kakadu National Park in the remote Northern Territory came to a sad end after a 12-year old boy, who was swimming with friends, went missing. The body is feared dead while another kid has sustained a few injuries on his arm and is seeking treatment.

The injured kid was attacked first, but he managed to wrestle the ferocious reptile, after which the crocodile snatched the other boy.

Based on the bite marks on the victim, the rangers and experts estimated the size of the reptile that attacked the group. Following which, two crocodiles were spotted in the area. One was as large as 4.7 metres (15 foot) and the other was 4.3 meters. Both the crocodiles were killed and were cut open, source MailOnline.

Police sergeant Stephen Constable said, "We've since had a look at both crocodiles and neither of them had anything in their stomachs and we're now going to continue the search. The bite marks on the arm of the surviving boy would 'give us a rough idea of how large the crocodile was."

Witnesses to the gory event were also interrogated by the officials. After this incident, a warning has been released asking people to stay away from the Kakadu's watering holes.

Nearly 13 people, including six were children, were killed in crocodile attacks in 2013. Last year, IT professional, Sean Cole (26) from Darwin, was attacked and brutally killed by a 650 kilogram crocodile that dragged him deep under the water and rose upstream after sometime with the body of the victim held between its jaws.
