ConAgra Foods has recently announced that it is recalling 5,200 cases of its chicken with rice soup products due to a mislabeling issue. The Microwaveable Healthy Choice Chicken Noodle Soup products have been misbranded as Microwaveable Healthy Choice Chicken with Rice Bowl Soup, which could potentially cause a health issue for those that may have wheat or egg allergies or who are gluten-intolerant. The company was recently notified of the mistake via a customer who ended up with the noodle soup instead of rice, according to a press release.

The United States Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA-FSIS) stated that the Healthy Choice Chicken Noodle Soup is made with both wheat and eggs. However this would not be mentioned on the labels with the Healthy Choice Chicken with Rice Bowl Soup, and could be particularly dangerous for those suffering from celiac disease-an autoimmune digestive disease that damages the viilli of the small intestine and greatly hinders the absorption of nutrients from food. According to health officials, if some picked up a mislabeled product containing wheat, they could suffer intestinal damage.

The products with the recall were produced on Dec. 16, 2013. They were distributed to many retail outlets, including 23 states and Jamaica, the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.

At this time, ConAgra is currently working to remove all misbranded products from shelves. The soups being recalled are "Healthy Choice Chicken with Rice" that are all labeled 14-oz (397g) with a Best By date of "JUN 092015" located at the bottom of the bowl.
