A short video of a teen girl being hit on the head by a whale's tail has gone viral and grabbed the attention of over 1.5 million viewers.
Recently, a group of people on a whale watching trip off the coast of Baja in New Mexico had too close an encounter with a whale. Nineteen-year-old Chelsea Crawford, a part of the crowd trying to spot the mammal was suddenly hit on the head by a whale tail.
Chelsea's whale watching trip with a few friends on Saturday will definitely stay with her as a once in a lifetime experience. She accidentally got hit on her head by the bony tail of one of the world's biggest mammal. It is reported that Chelsea is perfectly safe though a little bemused, reports the Mirror.co.
"We went whale watching on the Baja this weekend, for an excursion as a part of the Live Different Academy program and unfortunately, Chelsea got smacked in the head by a whale's tail. Luckily, she was fine and we got it on video!" said Jordyn R who posted the video online.
The teen from Bridgewater, N.S., was left in shock after being slammed by the whale. The excited whale watchers on the boat saw some grey whales surfacing and splashing water around the boat. The whales came closer to the boat and people started patting them. But Chelsea was disheartened as she didn't get to pat any whale, CBC news reported.
"We were just about to leave when this one decided to be very playful and decided to hit me," Chelsea said. "I saw it coming but I didn't know what was happening. All I remember is that I put up my hand towards my head at the end of it because the impact was crazy."
Luckily the girl escapes a serious injury as the tail was bony and suffered a few bruises on her head and shoulder.
