Most people hate their jobs; the monotony can really drive you crazy. But is this a bad thing? According to science, it's not.

Researchers from the University of Liverpool discovered that feeling bad at work can actually be good for you. Contrary to popular relief, a positive work environment may not always lead to positive emotions, according to findings.

Furthermore, the study authors found that this is often because work contexts can significantly influence outcomes.

"The findings of the studies published in this Special Issue challenge the widely held assumption that in the workplace positive emotions generate or engender a positive outcome, and vice versa," said Dr. Dirk Lindebaum from the University of Liverpool Management School, in a news release.

This might mean employees who are angry or unhappy when they witness their fellow workers being treated unfairly could help prevent future injustices from happening by taking action, while being too positive or happy could lead to complacency, a lax work attitude and overall superficiality.
