The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service is recalling over 1,900 pounds of Beech-Nut Nutrition baby food products because small pieces of glass may have gotten into the jars.

The 4-ounce glass jars of "Stage 2 Beech-Nut CLASSICS sweet potato & chicken" baby food have an expiration date of "DEC 2016" and the recall include product numbers "12395750815" through "12395750821."

The items were shipped to retail stores nationwide, according to the USDA, and hold the establishment number "P-68A" inside the USDA mark of inspection. Fortunately, not other flavors or products have been affected by the recall, according to health officials.

The problem was first discovered by a consumer who allegedly found a small piece of glass in one of the baby food containers. The company noted that a mouth injury has also been reported, but no more details have been released at this time.

The USDA considers this a Class I recall, meaning it is "a health hazard situation where there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death."

Consumers with any questions in regards to the recall are asked to contact the Beech-Nut Consumer Hotline at (866) 674-4446.
