Unfortunately, animal cruetly is still very much alive today.
Recently, Sunny, a shepherd mix, was brought into the offices of Pima Animal Care Center in Tucson. The dog was found hanging from a tree with a rope tied around her mouth. Fortunately, she is slowly beginning to recover.
"She's getting her spirit back," Director of shelter operations for the Pima Animal Care Center in Tucson, José Ocaño, according to The Associated Press (AP). "Even the look in the eye looks more trusting and hopeful, which is a testament to how resilient animals are."
Sunny's story has attracted attention from all over the country, according to Ocaño, helping bring in thousands of dollars for the animal's recovery. To donate, visit the Facebook page, as well as information on Sunny's progress. The medical bill for Sunny's recovery has come in at about $2,500 but over $20,000 has been raised. The rest is going to benefit other animals at the shelter.
The shelter cares for nearly 650 dogs and 300 cats, according to NYC Today.
