But the recent poll conducted by the Washington Post-Stanford University indicates that Global Warming has lost its status of being America's top environmental concern.
The residents of U.S have off lately noticed drastic alteration in the environmental conditions. The intense temperature has driven everyone to a point of saturation. Several studies have been done by researchers with result to the changing temperatures and "global Warming" stands out prominently as a contributing factor to these changes.
But the recent poll conducted by the Washington Post-Stanford University indicates that Global Warming has lost its status of being America's top environmental concern.
The telephonic survey was held from 13 June to 21 June 2012, among random national samples of 80 adults. The data garnered by this poll comes as surprise, because something like Global Warming that is talked on so often slips as being a top concern of the American. Water and air pollution remain as the gravest concern for 29% of the adults. However, the climate change remains as a threat to just 18% which is way too less than the count of 33% that was registered in 2007. The poll followed the warmest spring on record in the United States and had a margin of error of 4.5 percentage points.
One reason for such lack of awareness could be due to prevailing political debate in the country
The 185 of the people whose top concern remain Global Warming, are the one to feel that President Obama, is maintaining a very low profile in pushing the bill that would limit greenhouse gas emission and allow emitters to trade pollution credits.
Reporting the poll findings, the Washington Post said the reduced priority given by Americans to global climate change could be due to President Barack Obama's own low profile on the issue ahead of the November election.
While downgrading climate change, nearly three in four poll respondents said the Earth is warming, and just as many felt global temperatures will keep going up if nothing is done to address the matter.
