Butt Implants Aren't 'Behind' Us: They're 'Back'!

We've come a long way since the 1920s, or the 1960s, for that matter. The ideal body-type no longer belongs to a wafer thin model: Nowadays, there's a little more going on downstairs.
A 2015 report from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) shows us that butt implants are more popular than ever. The data from the report specifically identifies trends and patterns involving the most commonly chosen plastic surgeries, today and to put things a bit more into perspective, just about every 30 minutes, according to the ASPS, someone gets a butt implant.
While butt implants are on the rise, they are just one of many procedures involved in roughly 15.9 million plastic surgeries, both intensive and minimally-invasive, done in the United States, according to the report.
Butt implants, unlike breast implants, may involve a soft, solid silicone implant or fat taken from a patient that's re-injected into the buttocks, to provide that enhanced, rouded shape the patient desires.
But touching again on breast implants, which use soft, fluid-filled sacs, the ASPS also reports that while breast augmentations still outnumbered the total number of butt procedures in 2015, at close to 300,000, that's down 2 percent from 2014.
Still staying on the topic of breasts, don't' be fooled into thinking that cosmetic procedures are mainly among women. The report found that men are also opting for aesthetic enhancements--particularly when it comes to breast reduction, a procedure that removes fat in the breasts of people with gynecomastia, according to the United states National Library of Medicine.
In fact, just last year, over 27,000 breast reduction surgeries were reportedly performed on men; that's more than 5 percent more than in 2014 and more than 35 percent more in 2000.
