Arkyne Technologies, a Spanish company is developing the Bioo Lite System, which can channel the power of photosynthesis and produces electricity through the use of soil, water and any common house plant.
Bioo Lite uses panels that are placed underneath the soil to draw energy from the natural process of photosynthesis. It makes energy by processing microorganisms ejected by the plant's root system. The larger panels can be put under the garden plots. On the other hand, the smaller panels can be put in the potted plants. According to the developers, the system does not affect the health of the plant.
It all starts inside the plant pot. The process involves a biological and a chemical hybrid cell. It is also self-regenerating. The system is capable of taking the energy that is produced in the soil that surrounds the roots of the plant. Then, it transfers it as electricity utilizing its leading and efficient process, according to Indiegogo.
The system has its own USB port that looks like a decorative rock. Just remove the USB from the inside of the pot then add some water in the pot. Shake the pot carefully to prevent the water from flowing in soil and stimulating the organic process. Put any plant inside the pot and fill it with soil. Leave the USB visible so that you can plug in your phone. Once done, charge your phone by plugging it into the USB port.
According to Arkyne Technologies, you can charge your phone 2 to 3 times a day with a power of 5.0v, 1.0A using the Bioo Lite system. You can charge for at least five years.
The company aims to deliver the Bioo Lite system by December. A single Bioo Lite is approximate $135. The plant is not included. This gives you a choice of a plant that you like. It will not only use as a decorative plant in your terrace but can also charge your phone.
