Rumor mills have it that Apple's next-gen smartwatch, possibly dubbed Apple Watch 2, will most likely get a release alongside iPhone 7 in September.
Previously it was rumored that the smartwatch could get launched at Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June. However, according to Vine Report, the developers have encountered certain technical difficulties while working on the Apple Watch 2 and this has delayed the smartwatch's release to fall 2016.
Talking about the Apple Watch 2 specifications, rumors suggest that the upcoming smartwatch could be entirely independent of the iPhone. At present, the smart watch's main use is as an extension of the iPhone.
It is expected that the next generation Apple Watch will feature true cellular connectivity which will enable users to make calls, send texts and connect to the internet without the need of the iPhone. The new watch is expected to run the latest version of Watch OS 2.2.
New reports suggest, Apple Watch 2 will get a completely different look from its predecessor. It is rumored that the next-gen smartwatch will come with a circular face rather than a square one, reported Christian Today.
Apple analyst Brian White, who works for the Wall Street firm Drexel Hamilton, claims that Apple Watch 2 could be probably 20 percent to 40 percent slimmer than its predecessor.
The next-gen smartwatch is expected to get a new processor that will deliver better performance for apps. It is also expected to offer longer battery life. The smartwatch may also get a FaceTime camera for video calls.
Apple Watch 2 is also expected to be significantly waterproof and come with numerous health-tracking features. There are also possibilities of a new gesture control in the upcoming smartwatch.
CEO Tim Cook recently announced that the next-gen Apple Watch will function the same as car warning systems and will alert users of a potential health problem early, according to ITPro.
We advise our readers to take the information with a grain of salt as the Cupertino has not confirmed anything yet.
