China space telescope, which has the similar function as that of the Hubble Space Telescope, is being aimed at by the country in the coming years. According to a Chinese scientist, the optical field of view is going to be 300 times as huge as the features of the Hubble.
The envisioned China space telescope's cabin will also be connected to the soon to be unveiled Chinese space station, as confirmed by Gu Yidong, China's technology consultant of the manned space flight project and also a professor at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Gu Yidong also announced that the optical cabin will be the biggest confirmed program at the moment.
At present, China is planning on a series of scientific platforms as well as facilities for their space stations. Based on reports, the country's Tiangong space stations is believed to be fully completed by 2020, and that improved researchers' capability is expected to perform science experiments as well, according to NDTV.
The internal diameter of China space telescope is reported to be about two meters, while its resolution would be close to that of Hubble's. The telescope will also have an unprecedented observational depth. In addition to this, the optical cabin is also expected to conduct slitless spectroscopy and heterochromatic photometry sky surveys.
As announced by Gu Yidong, the cabin will have to remain in orbit with the space station, and will be connected to the station whenever upgrades or maintenance would be needed.
Meanwhile, the Hubble Space Telescope, which was developed by the European Space Agency and the NASA, and was launched during the 1990s, orbits just outside the atmosphere of the Earth. The Hubble, according to reports, can take the images of deep space in extremely high-resolution.
Meantime, the Chinese space station is expected to be launched in 2020, according to Sputnik News.
