Other than their iPhone and iPads, there is another product line that Apple is expected to unfurl soon with their MacBooks. The new notebook line is believed to be nearing launch, something that could happen as early as this month.

Word of such comes from Macotakara who had earlier reported that the new MacBook Pro lineup will be out soon, affirming swirling rumors that the redesigned notebooks are imminently here.

If it does happen, other tied up rumors may likely be answered as well as far as the features of the new MacBook Pro is concerned. Among the rumored features include that of a USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 ports which will replace the traditional USB-A connectors and Thunderbolt 2 and MagSafe 2 charging.

Other than that, a new rumor has cropped up and it has something to do with a key component to the MacBook Pro, the hinges. Jarryltec, the maker of the special hinge, has reported a big boost in sales credited to Apple’s order of the said part.

It is believed that the hinge (referred to as the metal injection hinges or MIM), will be used on the 13-inch MacBook Pro which is expected to start shipping by the third quarter of this year. The same hinges will reportedly be used as well on the 15-inch MacBooks also slated for release alongside the 13-inch variants.

Metal injection molding is a technique used to create “small, intricate metal parts,” MacRumors reports, or the kind of parts a redesigned notebook – that’s supposed to be slimmer than ever – would require.

Right now and with the hinges seemingly getting a lot of attention, a looming question is on whether these MIMs will play a vital role in the overall redesign of the MacBook line.

While it is obvious that these hinges are expected to connect the display to the motherboard and also hold the screen in place at various angles while maintaining balance, they are said to be the prime reason that accounts for the thin nature of the upcoming Apple notebooks.

Regardless, other things to look forward to for the MacBook Pro include that of an OLED display, above the number keys on the keyboard which could offer users new ways to access shortcuts. Overall, the upcoming MacBook Pro will carry a hefty overhauled design.

Right now, it remains to be seen if Apple will lift the covers on the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro 2016 when WWDC kicks off on Monday, June 13 starting at 1 p.m. ET. Avid Apple followers who want to catch the event live can do so via live stream via this link.
