New reports suggest Google's much awaited Nexus 2016 is being manufactured by China-based tech giant, Huawei. Huawei is the same company which developed Nexus 6P for Google last year.

The partnership was confirmed by Charlene Munilall, Huawei South Africa Consumer Business Group General Manager. In an interview with Gearburn, Munilall revealed that Huawei will be manufacturing Nexus 2016.

"We're doing the Nexus again this year, by the way," she said casually. Munilall, however, did not offer any details about the Google Nexus 2016 specs, release date and price.

Recently, in a recent interview with Walt Mossberg, Google CEO Sundar Pichai said fans can be assured of significantly enhanced next Nexus experience. Pichai mentioned that the company would put "more thought" into its Nexus line of smartphones.

"You'll see us hopefully add more features on top of Android on Nexus phones," he said. "There's a lot of software innovation to be had."

The CEO also added that the search giant would be "more opinionated" about the design of the phones. When asked whether Google plans to build its own phones from scratch, Pichai said the company's plan is still to work with OEMs to manufacture phones, but the company will oversee all aspects as far the as the development of the Nexus products is concerned.

It is rumored that HTC is developing two new Android N devices for Google, and the devices are internally named as S1 and M1.

The Nexus 2016 is expected to run Google's latest OS iteration- Android N. It is rumored that one of the Nexus smartphones will boast a 5-inch display whereas the high-end version would pack a 5.5-inch display. The handsets are rumored to feature 3D Touch-like functionality with Snapdragon 820 chip processor and 4 GB RAM.

The Nexus 2016 device is also expected to consist of Google Photo backup feature with enhanced camera specs. As nothing yet has been officially announced about the Nexus 2016, we advise our readers to take the information with a grain of salt.
