While, fans were eagerly waiting for developer 343 Industries to announce the sixth installment of the popular "Halo" franchise, possibly dubbed "Halo 6", at the Electronic Entertainment Expo or E3 2016 event, the same did not happen.
However, what has been confirmed from the three day event is that "Halo 5" will not be getting a PC version.
"Our approach is to deliver epic Halo experiences designed for PC gamers and Windows 10, such as Halo Wars 2 and the recently announced Halo 5: Forge," a Microsoft spokesperson said. "There are no plans to port 'Halo 5: Guardians' to PC."
But, this doesn't mean that the next Halo installment will also not get a PC release. While, Microsoft's Phil Spencer did not directly confirm that "Halo 6" will be getting a PC version via Windows 10, he did reveal that the software giant is keen in making all of its next first party games to be Windows 10 compatible.
When asked the reason for not bringing "Halo 5" to PC, Spencer said it was not sensible for the company to work on PC port of a year-old game, rather they chose to focus on the future and concentrate on new games.
In an interview with PC Gamer, when Spencer was asked if it the next Halo games would have the same fate as "Halo 5," he replied saying "Not at all."
As far as "Halo 6" release date is concerned, it is expected that the game will not release anytime soon as it is still far from finish. Frank O'Connor, the development director for the franchise, has reportedly confirmed that there are still no definite features for the next game to offer just yet. He added that the developer team is still in the planning and writing stage right now, so it is almost next to impossible that the game will get a 2016 release.
In fact, there are also reports which claim that as "Halo 5: Guardians" did not do so well the company may even decide to abort working on the sixth installment.
