While, game developer Bethesda has confirmed that they are working on the next installment of "The Elder Scrolls" franchise, possibly dubbed "The Elder Scrolls 6," nothing about the game's release date has been revealed yet.
Todd Howard, Bethesda game director, announced about the upcoming game during a YouTube Live interview with Geoff Keighley at the recently concluded Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016 event.
"[Elder Scrolls 6 is] kind of like the elephant in the room, always, when we talk about anything," Howard explained, "and you know, I think it's good in these moments to tell our fans yes, of course we are [working on it] - it's something we love - but it is... you know, I have to be careful what I say, it's a very long way off."
He added that the sixth installment of "The Elder Scrolls" franchise is going to take a long time to release, so, fans shouldn't expect the game to become available this year.
"I could sit here and explain the game to you, and you would say, 'That sounds like you don't even have the technology - how long is that going to take?' And so it's something that's going to take a lot of time, what we have in mind for that game," said Howard.
While, the game director hinted that the company is currently working on two other major projects, he chose not to reveal anything about them. He just said that the two projects in question are bigger than anything they have done until now and that they will get a release ahead of "Elder Scrolls 6."
In related news, Bethesda has announced that an "Elder Scrolls 5" remaster, titled "Skyrim Special Edition," will be made available on Xbox One, PS4 and PC on October 28. The game will be free for PC owners who already own the original game and all its DLC.
