While Samsung is still enjoying the success of its flagship smartphones Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, rumors about the next gen smartphone, possibly dubbed Samsung Galaxy S8, have started hitting the web.
According to Patently Mobile, the next gen Galaxy handset might come with new specs and features, even better than its predecessors. As per the report, the Samsung Galaxy S8 is expected to come with improved iris scanning technology with a new kind of triple-camera system.
As per the patent filed by Samsung with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, "the first lens may include two narrow-angle lenses having narrow angles of view to expand and capture images of regions of the eyes of the user. The second lens may include a wide-angle lens having a wide angle of view to capture an image of the face of the user. The first lens may be a zoom lens, and the second lens may be a short focal length lens. That is, in some embodiments, the iris recognition device may obtain images for recognizing the iris of the user using three lenses."
In simple words, the new triple-camera system will scan and check the user's iris, eye structure as well as face to get an accurate read. If in case the iris recognition system does not recognize the person trying to access the system, it will issue a voice message with guidance on the display to retry the scanner.
In addition, the reports claims that the fingerprint sensor in the Samsung Galaxy S8 might get placed to the back of the phone.
Another report from SamMobile states that the upcoming Galaxy smartphone might also get a new camera feature dubbed as the Smart Glow. The Smart Glow feature will come in the form of a ring around the lens of the rear-facing camera that will light up in into three different colors to alert users of incoming messages, calls, missed calls and even low battery life. Samsung Galaxy J7 is expected to be the first handset to get the new feature.
As far as Samsung Galaxy S8 release date is concerned, rumors are that the handset will get an April launch next year.
We advise our readers to take the information about Samsung Galaxy S8 release date and specs with a big grain of salt as nothing yet has been announced by the smartphone giant.
