"Rise of the Tomb Raider" will make its way to PS4 in a 20th Year Celebration edition that comes with all of the game's DLC, including a new chapter and VR support. "Rise of the Tomb Raider" PS4 will ship out with a new box art that looks the same as "Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection's" cover.
"Rise of the Tomb Raider" PlayStation 4 version has been confirmed by Square Enix to be designed to run at 1080p/30fps, EGM reported. This is the same resolution as the resolution of "Rise of the Tomb Raider" Xbox One version.
"Rise of the Tomb Raider" PlayStation 4, however, is still being optimized by Square Enix, MWP News reported. The developer confirmed that the "Rise of the Tomb Raider" PS4 frame rate will not hit below 30fps and added that anything beyond a 30fps frame rate will be a bonus.
Square Enix statement was suspected to be in reference to the new and more powerful PS4 Neo console, but details are still unclear. Sony previously announced the Neo console days before the E3, though the system was not present at the event. The console, however, is rumored to be launched this year while Sony is expected to start talking more about it soon.
Meanwhile, the Neo console is not intended to replace the existing PS4, but it will be sold with the device, which is meant to offer a more high-end option. The statement might not be a reference to Neo, however, the developer released the same statement about "Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition" in 2014. They said that the ambition was to deliver the core "Tomb Raider" gameplay at native 1080p and running at 30fps, and anything beyond 30fps for that version is gravy.
"Rise of the Tomb Raider" 20 Year Celebration version will be released for PS4 on Oct 11. "Rise of the Tomb Raider" Xbox One and "Rise of the Tomb Raider" PC season pass holders will get all of the new content for free, except "Rise of the Tomb Raider" VR support.
