Since its launch, Uber has been in the midst of different sorts of controversies. Various complaints and suits were reported in the past; hence people in different parts of the world are now used to hearing negative news about the multinational online transport network company. And just recently, Uber made noise again as a new issue has linked the app to no less than the internationally popular sisters Kendall Jenner and Kim Kardashian-West.

PEOPLE reported that the 20-year-old model Kendall Jenner was allegedly banned from Uber; hence her sister Kim Kardashian was forced to act as her driver. "This is not fair. ... so we just wanna know why was Kendall suspended? She's literally, like, a model passenger," Kardashian-West could be watched saying this on Snapchat. However, it turned out that the entire situation was merely a misunderstanding. The app explained that there was just a minor account issue and that it is being resolved.

Meanwhile, Uber has been involved in other controversies that are far more serious than a minor account issue. Just last month, The Sun reported about a woman from London who claimed that an Uber driver dragged her down street and forced her to give him cash in exchange of her phone. Sabrina Benltaief accidentally left her phone in the driver's car after a night out with her friends. She contacted the driver and met up with him, but the latter demanded money for the phone and threatened to call the police. Benltaief said that before she "could even get any out", the driver drove off knowing the she was holding onto the car's side. She was left on the roadside unconscious and needed stiches. Uber spokesman said the driver was blocked from using the app during investigation.

Uber has undeniable benefits that numerous passengers around the globe can enjoy. But the number of controversies involving the company has consequently led to many questions raised. Really, why is it so controversial? One answer could be the inevitability of an app having technical blunders; hence Jenner's 'suspension' issue and the like. But apart from that, Time reported the need for Uber drivers to be regulated the way established taxi company drivers are.

Unless the sources of issues are immediately addressed, Uber may still remain controversial for a long period of time. This may lead to a huge number of potential passengers having doubts about the company.
