The newest update of Pokémon GO will give trainers a chance to travel with a Pokémon that is already outside its Pokéball. Game developer, Niantic will release an update for the phenomenal game and it will be call the Buddy System. Players will now have the chance to enjoy moments like Ash and Pikachu. So here is everything you need to know about this upcoming feature.
Itech Post reported that in the newest update, players are allowed to have one Pokémon buddy at a time. If the Pokémon has already been chosen as a buddy, it won't be able to do other task in the game. It also can't be traded unless the buddy tag is removed and won't be able to participate in gym battles. Buddy Pokémon are divided into four categories: Medium, Shoulder, Big, and Flying.
According to Game Rant, there is a possibility that the size of the Pokémon will be based on their actual size in the Pokémon universe than the random height and weight they are assigned with in Pokémon GO. Which simply means that Snorlax, will always belong to the "Big" category. It was also said that the main reason for having a Pokémon buddy is to collect candies. As every Pokémon GO player knows, Pokémon candy is the most precious commodity in the game, since it's the only way players can evolve their Pokémon.
Every Pokémon in the game has an assigned distance between 1KM to 3KM, and walking the required distance with the Pokémon will reward players with a specific amount of candy. Although a majority of Pokémon will only require 1 or 2 KM to get candy, but there are some Pokémon that require 3 KM.
So, if you're having a hard time finding Charmander to catch, pick it as your buddy and let the candies come. Unfortunately, Niantic did not provide more specific details about the mechanics of the Buddy System but we will investigate once the update drops, reported iDigitalTimes.
Meanwhile, there is still no words regarding the release date of this upcoming Pokémon Go update, but Niantic said it was around the corner, so keep those senses up.
