Growing old comes with a lot of problems, like going bald and getting arthritis pains. However, if there is a way to keep yourself healthy, like kill some cancer cells while going for a cheap and cheerful hallucination, you might want to try some things you can find in your kitchen on a daily basis:
According to Food Vice, science now supports the health benefits of capsaicin, the active component found in hot peppers - it can help you avoid cancer, and maybe cheat death at the same time. Of course, like many other things in the world, it is kind of a bit too good to be true: while there is evidence of capsaicin killing cancer cells, there are also studies saying that it does the exact opposite, meaning it can both fight and cure cancer.
A study said that the cancer causing properties can actually be cancelled out by 6-gingerol, the chemical that gives ginger its flavor - so chilies and ginger do actually go together, acting in unison to lessen the risk of development of cancer cells - great news for those who love Szechuan food. As Mentioned by i4u.com, the molecular effects of these compounds could serve as a wonder drug that could have anti-carcinogenic effects.
The research, which was published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry experimented on a mice population. The results showed that capsaicin alone could increase the risk of developing lung cancer, while ginger offers that much of a risk. However, put together, they are not only delicious, but protective as well. However, the research, which is done in rats, will have to be done in humans as well to further investigate on the benefits of capsaicin in the body.
Do you think that ginger and chilies could really be the key to increase our lifespan?
