On September 7, the release of Apple wireless AirPod headphones was announced alongside iPhone 7 and the Apple watch, proving the rumors true. Prior to the event, there were speculations that the tech giant planned to release wireless headphones. Apple showcased the device with the goal to promote a "wireless future" and insisted that removing the headphone jack is actually an act of courage.
According to Business Insider Nordic, Apple wants to stress the importance of being bold enough to sacrifice the comfortably familiar. Additionally, the said sacrifice is worth various perks like better iPhone 7 and 7 plus cameras and bigger batteries.
Basically, Apple wireless AirPod headphones are standard Bluetooth microphones/earbuds. They can work with any Android phone, Windows PC, and other devices a user may have. But the numerous benefits will be reaped when you choose to use it with Apple products particularly iPhone, iPad, Apple watch, and a Mac. It will also work with the macOS Sierra, which is set to come out later this month. Moreover, the AirPod does not have physical buttons. Users can control it through a touch sensor that activates Apple's voice assistant Siri.
The one-touch access nearly sums up Apple's entire plan for the device and for Siri. More importantly, it showcases the company's goal to define how people should use computers. According to Mirror Online, Apple believes the AirPods will reinvent how users make phone calls, listen to music, play games, watch videos, and interact with Siri. They can easily switch from calls to entertainment.
In hindsight, users will basically do stuff through the help of Siri. One advantage that Apple promotes is that using AirPods requires less time to look at the screens; hence, users can have more time enjoying their lives. Moreover, the company promotes the most natural way of passing information, which is by speech and sound. However, more time might be needed before people can fully rely on Siri to do almost everything. The possibility of losing the AirPods is another concern that bothers a lot of people.
Apple looks at technology's next wave; but alongside this, it should also teach users to never take their headphones off. This is a challenge for both ends and may be the price to pay for heading towards the wireless future.
