GoPro has just proved that there's always room for fresh products in camera drones market. After being teased for months, the U.S. based company has finally revealed its first drone, the GoPro Karma. The new Drone lets you fly high in the sky and have a bird's eye view of your surroundings.
The main purpose is to give the user a totally new perspective and really awesome bird-eye shots of their extreme adventures. Here's everything we know about what new the GoPro Karma has to offer:
Design
Karma has been designed mainly for its camera handling but it does also simplify flying controls for the novice drone pilots, states a report on Cnet. The tweet below shows what the actual GoPro Karma looks like.
It's small size and foldable propellers make it fit in a small backpack easily. The backpack, which the GoPro Karma comes with, the company claims is so light that you can wear it during any adventurous activity without feeling uncomfortable. When you want to fly the drone, all you have to do is open the pack, extend Karma's arms and fly.

Supported camera
The GoPro Karma can use the GoPro Hero 4, Hero 5 Black or Hero 5 Session as its camera. The camera is attached to the underside of the Karma that comes with a new stabilisation mount, states Wired. The new mount has been made as such that it can also slot into the Hero Grip, which we earlier used as a handheld or mount onto other GoPro-compatible products.
It's also worth noticing that the Hero 5 Black is waterproof and doesn't require any additional enclosures. The camera features 4K video recording, Bluetooth, GPS and voice control. You can know more about both the new Hero 5 action cameras here.
Controller specs
The controller of the GoPro Karma weighs just 625g. It has a built-in 5-inch 720p touchscreen, which offers a one-touch button for takeoff and landing. The peak brightness of the screen is around 700 nits. The battery can last for four hours.
Operating modes
The GoPro Karma features multiple operating modes including Dronie (for zoom selfies), Cable cam (while moving between one pre-defined point to other), Reveal (pans until the subject is inside the shot) and finally Orbit (undergoes continuous circular pan around the main subject), states a report on Pocketlint.
GoPro Karma: Price
The Karma drone currently costs $799 without a GoPro camera. However, The Company also offers bundles that take $100 off the total price. For instance, Karma + Session bundle costs around $999, whereas Karma + GoPro Hero 5 costs around $1,099. The Karma kit that comes with the drone includes: controller, stabilising mount, grip, and the backpack that literally holds everything.
GoPro Karma: Release Date
GoPro Karma is available in the market from last Saturday, 23 October. The GoPro Hero5 and Hero Session however, will be available from 2 October. You can go to the GoPro's shop to sign up for the pre-registration information.
Additionally, GoPro has also included a feature that lets your friends watch a live version of the Karma drone's footage, states DigitalTrends. You can also control the Karma from your own smartphones. Also, with the new GoPro's Quik editing app, stitching together your footage and applying filters and music has become rather easy.
