Google has already send out invites for the October 4 launch event which is expect to see the launch of the highly anticipated Google Pixel 2016 phones, possibly dubbed Pixel and Pixel XL. With just few days remaining in the Pixel 2016 phones' official launch, some leaked pictures of the much rumored handsets have surfaced online.

It was popular leakster Evan Blass who published the first press image of the Google Pixel as well as Pixel XL on Venture Beat. The leaked pictures show the handsets in question featuring circular app icons on the Android home screen. Looking at the round icons, tech enthusiasts were quick enough to make out the handsets would come running Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box. The on-screen navigation buttons have also been slightly redesigned and appear in white color. Furthermore, the leaked pictures also add more authenticity to the rumor the tech giant has ditched its highly popular Nexus branding for its upcoming range of Google Pixel 2016 phones.

The handsets are reportedly made by HTC. The next gen Google smartphones are expected to give a tough fight to Apple's latest iPhone iteration- iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus- in terms of specs, features and overall performance. According to Android Police, the Google Pixel, codenamed Sailfish, will feature a 5-inch full HD display with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels. Its larger sibling, Pixel XL, codenamed Marlin, will get a 5.5-inch Quad-HD OLED display panel with a resolution of 2560x1440 pixels.

Among other specs, the two Google Pixel 2016 phones are expected to feature a quad-core 2.0GHz 64-bit Qualcomm processor, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, a 12MP rear camera, an 8MP front camera, a fingerprint scanner on the rear, a top-mounted headphone jack as well as a USB-C port on the bottom.

As far as Google Pixel 2016 phones' pricing is concerned, the smaller Pixel phone is expected to retail for $649. There's no word on Pixel XL pricing yet.
