News about several opioid overdose cases have been making quite a stir lately. Because of this, the Drug Enforcement Administration already declared 25 percent less of opioids production in the United States. But the Chinese vendors are more than willing to sell a much stronger kind of opioids in the online business.
Carfentanil is one of the strongest opioids circulating in the United Sates. Some of the drug overdose incidents were linked with this particular drug. This type of drug is so deadly that even a very limited amount can kill a person. The Carfentanil is known to knock-out elephants, moose and also considered as a chemical weapon.Experts say that the drug is 100 times stronger than fentanyl, which is a related drug that is up to 50 times stronger than heroin.
Given the danger of Carfentanil, Chinese sellers are still offering the drug online. The selling of the drug was discovered by Associated Press upon investigation. The price of the drug online is $2,750 per kilogram. The AP also identified 12 Chinese businessmen that are willing to export in places such as Australia, Belgium, Germany, France, Canada, United Kingdom and the United States.
In a report by CBS News, a saleswoman Jilin Tely from Import and Export Co, wrote in an email "We can supply carfentanil ... for sure." Thus, the U.S. government is telling China to blacklist the drugs, but Beijing has not yet reacted with regards to the blacklist issue,China's Ministry of Public Security declined to answer.
Decades before being discovered by drug dealers, carfentanil were studied by experts from Israel, China, Czech Republic, Russia, India, U.K., and the United States. Their research shows that the drug can be used as a chemical weapon. The drug was banned from the battlefield under the Chemical Weapons Convention. Assistant secretary of defense for nuclear, chemical and biological defense programs from 2009 to 2014 Andrew Weber said, "It's a weapon, Companies shouldn't be just sending it to anybody," according to State Journal.
