These days, music fashion icon Lady Gaga might not be able to just dance, after recent reports that a tear in her hip has not only canceled her "Born This Way Ball" tour, according to Live Nation, but that she will also need to under go corrective surgery to fix the problem.
The singer has a labral tear to the right hip caused by strenuous repetitive movements, according to the tour operator. "She will need surgery to repair the problem, followed by strict down time to recover. This unfortunately will force her to cancel the tour so she can heal," he said in a statement.
Gaga said Tuesday that several shows would be postponed because of an injury she had been hiding. "I've been hiding a show injury and chronic pain for sometime now, over the past month it has worsened," she tweeted Tuesday afternoon. "I've been praying it would heal."
As of Tuesday, Gaga described her injury as synovitis, a severe inflammation of the joints according to CNN. Synovitis has many causes and is usually painful with motion, and is characterized by a fluctuating swelling due to effusion within a synovial sac. It has also been listed as a rare disease and affects less than 20,000 people according to reports.
Fans can get refunds for the canceled performances at point of purchase starting Thursday, Live Nation said.
At the end of the day, we know she certainly wasn't born this way, but distraught fans will be waiting in the wings for the singer's return.
