One of the newest existing systems that Battlefield 1 changed are the in-game Battlepacks which is basically loot boxes that offer things like XP boosts, weapons, and mods. Game developer DICE has detailed today how these perks are being adjusted.

These Battlepacks got simplified to a certain degree. In its current application, there is only single one-plain old Battlepack in which you'll earn by playing. Each Battlepack gives out a guaranteed weapon skin and also has the chance to unlock XP boosters or a melee puzzle piece. Speaking of puzzle pieces, collecting enough of these pieces will allow you to simply craft a melee weapon and making it usable in-game.

Unlike the previous games, items within each Battlepack are no longer restricted to a certain level (as were previously divided into Bronze, Silver, and Gold-tier). Weapon skins and other bonus items that you find unusable or doesn't interest you can be broken into Scrap, which is a currency you may use to buy more Battlepacks including Superior and Enhanced versions. Battlepacks can only be purchased with Scrap currency and will guarantee you a much higher-rarity weapon skins. It simply means that you can now destroy things that you don't want and it may give you a better chance of unlocking weapon skins which you can only obtain through a standard Battlepack.

Available items selection from these Battlepacks will rotate on a regular basis. Though the developers did not really specify how often it would be. But you're much free to save up Scrap earned from Battlepack items for to spend in hopes of getting awesome skins in future rotations.

Though early access periods already began today (one day sooner than expected release), Battlefield 1 will be launched on October 21st. Both DICE and EA are continuing to share more details like their most recent announcement about weekly changes and a way to earn a special dog tag and weapon skin.
