Honda has always managed to stay amongst the top in the list of compact SUVs. Now, with the launch of the new fifth generation 2017 Honda CR-V, the Japanese Company has again left us surprised. The redesigned family SUV will compete with its key rivals including the Volkswagen Tiguan and Mazda CX-5.
Honda will reveal the new 2017 CR-V in a fall harvest-themed event in Detroit after the automaker and Chevrolet discovered that they both had scheduled major media launches on the same day. The completely re-engineered and redesigned fifth-generation SUV will hit the showrooms this winter.
Complete Features And Specs:
The fifth generation SUV gets its styling inspiration from the latest Honda Civic. The new 2017 CR-V features a longer hood, wide muscular fenders, and crisper lines on its front end. The new grille is also capable of automatically opening and closing so as to minimize drag. According to Honda, the redesigned body and chassis will give the new CR-V more confident handling, additional ground clearance, and greater refinement.
The CR-V gets its power from the same turbocharged 1.5-litre engine as that of the new Honda Civic sedan. Entry-level models are expected to carry a 2.4-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine. Although specifications for the CR-V have not yet been made official, the models that are to be released in the US are set to receive a 142kW tune, whereas those in New Zealand Civic models will get more than the 127kW.
What Else Is New?
The new Honda SUV CR-V is reported to feature a CVT automatic transmission. Customers will get to choose from front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive traction. The fifth gen SUV will also come with top class technology including a powered tailgate based on a foot-operated sensor, 7-inch touchscreen featuring Apple CarPlay as well as Android Auto connectivity, autonomous emergency braking, lane keeping assistance, active cruise control, and more.
Honda has added production capacity to its Greensburg, Ind., plant to stay ahead of its Rivals. It has even stopped making the CR-V at its plant in Mexico. While Honda is expecting to sell more than 365,000 CR-Vs in the U.S. in 2017, there's a huge possibility that the CR-V will outpace Accord and become Honda's top-selling vehicle.
The price for the CR-V has not yet been announced but you can expect to see the new redesigned fifth generation SUV in U.S. towards in the second half of 2017.
