The BMW i8's intuitive design and sci-fi look did gather some publicity when it was first introduced. And, now with the upcoming release of the 2018 BMW i8 Roadster 'Spyder' by the end of 2017, BMW plans on launching another concept for the i8 without the roof.
The German company plans on calling the 2018 BMW i8 Roadster as i8 Spyder when it will be available for purchase. BWM introduced the future car at the 2016 Consumers Electronics Show (CES) recently held in Las Vegas, Nevada. BMW recently showed its design concept images for a roofless BMW i8 Spyder.
2018 BMW i8 Spyder Specs and Features:
The 2018 BMW i8 Spyder will come with a 1.5-liter 3-cylinder turbo engine. Its new model will also include the latest synchronous electric motor. BMW plans on improving the power output to 426bhp, more or less. Overall, this turns out to be a 10% increase from the present BMW i8 model.
Further updates on the "in-cabin" technology were stated by the company as well. These might include new techs such as a new infotainment system with gesture controls, etc. The tech system was shown at the 2016 CES to the audience. Not much is revealed about other tech planned to be used in the i8 and the Roadster for now.
With two new variants (an electric and a petrol version) coming out, BMW plans on improvising as per the sales of its upcoming vehicles. Their strategy involves using a different design for each of the models. Whether the roofless version has been given a green signal is yet to be seen. But, chances are that it could be produced for a particular class.
Further details on the 2018 BMW i8 Spyder are yet to be updated. And, we plan on keeping you updated about it as soon as we receive them. So, what do you think about the i8 Spyder - will it be a hit in the market? Will improvement in tech and power output affect the sales? Let us know in the comments below.
