The recent announcement by Blizzard confirms their plan of releasing "StarCraft II" as an Artificial Intelligence Research Environment where Google's DeepMind is on lead. On the other hand, Oriol Vinyals, research scientist of DeepMind stated that it would take an enormous amount of time before the AI would be able to defeat humans. Vinyals said, "From a research standpoint, we might make great advances, but I think it's way too early to know whether we could beat the best."

Meanwhile, TechCrunch reported that the logic behind the team-up between Blizzard and DeepMind is to build an AI-friendly gaming experience, making the artificial intelligence be of aid to the players of " StarCraft II," since " StarCraft" is a very complex and challenging game.

The AI can come up with strategy and knowledge while the player watch recorded the games, finding ways to land on victory on "macro" and "micro" games. Similar to real players the AI would have to control a dimensional space as its utilizes its planning and memorizing skills.
