2016 is just about to end with more smartphones on the line to be unveiled next year. iPhone 7 left Apple fans surprised with the absence of the 3.5 mm jack, Pixel amazed the Google audience with its amazing features and Samsung got a lot of criticism after its Galaxy Note 7 started catching fire. A lot more exciting features are expected in the best 2017 smartphones.
While most of the smartphones to be rolled out next year will be next versions of the current models, Nokia with its D1C is also all set to take up on the market once again. SWR has created a list of the best 2017 smartphones to be launched the next year.
Best 2017 Smartphones: iPhone 8 / 8 Plus
The 4.7" iPhone 8 and 5.5" iPhone 8 Plus will debut in the third quarter of 2017 and will have a number of new features as compared to the current models. The smartphone will replace the earlier LCD screen with a new OLED one. The display has also been previously reported to be a curved one, but no official announcement has been made about it yet.
Wireless charging as well as a unique iris scanner, will definitely rank the iPhone 8 / 8 Plus amongst the best 2017 smartphones. As Apple took care of the 3.5 mm Jack in 2016, next year it may do the same with the Home Button. With the non-compete clause signed with Microsoft, the Nokia D1C is expected to run the latest Android Nougat 7.0. With a better 13MP rear camera as well as an 8MP front camera for selfies, the D1C may also find a place in the list of Best 2017 Smartphones.

Rumored to be rolled out in the second quarter of 2017, the OnePlus 4 is one of the most awaited smartphones so far. The next-generation smartphone is expected to feature a 5.5" flexible OLED screen. The resolution of the display will certainly be much improved than the earlier models and is expected to feature 2,560 x 1,440 pixels.
The OnePlus 4 will be powered by the Snapdragon 830 CPU, coupled with an 8 GB RAM and 128 GB internal storage. The upcoming smartphone will feature NFC support, a 21 MP Back Camera and 12 MP camera for taking selfies. Rumors also suggest that the best 2017 smartphone may feature a dual-camera setup, including an AR/MR support.

Rumors are that the Galaxy S7 successor has been codenamed Dream, however, chances are that it'll keep its Galaxy S8 name. The upcoming smartphone, unlike the S7 Model, will spec a curved screen option. The display is expected to have a 4K resolution and 806 PPI and will come in two sizes: 5.7" and 6.2".
The next generation smartphone will feature the latest 10nm Exynos 8895 SoC, which may also include ARM's Mali-G71 GPU chip. Earlier reports suggest that Galaxy S8 will feature a Pressure sensitive Touch display and AI assistant named "Bixby".
