Kanye West was admitted for "emergency psychiatric evaluation" at UCLA's Medical Center on Monday after canceling the remaining 20 shows of his Saint Pablo Tour.
According to Los Angeles Times, the 39-year-old rapper was reportedly having disturbing behaviors prior to his admission at his personal trainer's residence. This was after canceling his Sunday night performance three hours before his performance and walking out the stage after his third song in Sacramento on Saturday.
Vanity Fair reported that West has been diagnosed with exhaustion and dehydration after he was handcuffed to the stretcher by his personal doctor Michael Farzam, in accordance to the 5150 medical policy -- an involuntary psychiatric hold for patients that might cause danger to himself or others.
"He's exhausted. He's just really tired," West's mother-in-law Kris Jenner told Extra. "He's had a grueling tour and it's been a grind, so he just needs to rest."
"Sleep deprivation appears to dislocate the body from the brain," said Psychologist Matthew Walker of the University of California as reported by Medical Daily. "Insufficient sleep removes the rose tint to our emotional world, causing an overestimation of threat."
According to Health Line, exhaustion could result from various factors such as physical exertion, lack of sleep, periods of emotional stress, boredom, grief, taking certain medications like antidepressants or sedatives, regular alcohol consumption, drug-use such as cocaine among others, too much caffeine consumption and unhealthy diet.
Meanwhile, mental disorders such as depression, anxiety and seasonal affective disorder could also cause exhaustion.
For West's case, could it be possible for him to have a mental disorder following his erratic behaviors of publicly ranting about his views on Donald Trump and hate on Mark Zuckerberg, Beyonce and Jay Z? The rapper has also been acting strange in posting 99 photos on Instagram just within four hours. The answer to that, however, is yet to be discovered.
