"Dead Island" game developer Deep Silver had first announced a sequel to the popular zombie survival game, dubbed "Dead Island 2" almost two years back during PlayStation's press conference at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in 2014. They also showcased an early version of "Dead Island 2" gameplay at Gamescom 2014. Since then the makers haven't revealed anything about the game's status.
While, gamers were expecting the game developers to announce "Dead Island 2" at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2016, the same did not happen. Now, new reports suggest the open-world zombie game "Dead Island 2" release date has been postponed to 2017. The zombie game was originally supposed to get released in August 2015.
There were also rumors of the highly anticipated game getting axed when Deep Silver and Yager Development parted ways in 2015. However, the rumors turned out to be false. Later in May 2016, the game was removed from Steam's search engine page which left fans disappointed. However, Deep Silver immediately took to Twitter to assure gamers that they have not stopped working on "Dead Island 2," and that they would be revealing more information about the game at a later stage. If current reports are to be believed then "Dead Island 2" will get rolled out for the Windows PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One during Halloween 2017.
In related news, Deep Silver's parent company, Koch Media, has announced that it is working on a "Dead Island" mobile game.
"I can tell you we are also working on a mobile game under the IP, which we will have more to say about in a little while," Koch Media CEO Klemens Kundratitz said. "The franchise has our full attention."
Kundratitz also said that the sequel "Dead Island 2" is also still in development and is being produced in "good hands," reported Video Gamer.
