Luckily, India will witness the first ever private mission to the Moon. The Bengaluru aerospace company named Team Indus is all ready to set on launching the spacecraft that is said to land on the Moon and will explore the lunar surface. On Dec. 28, 2017, the Team Indus spacecraft will fly to the Moon.
According to TheTeCake, Team Indus' main mission is to effectively and successfully land the rover on the Moon that will travel at least 500 meters approximately on the lunar surface and will come back to Earth with all the captured high-definition videos and images. If the mission is successful, then ISRO scientists will use technology and develop another Chandrayaan, the Chandrayaan-2, that will land for exploration of the Moon.
After the Chandrayaan-1 mission, Chandrayaan-2 mission is still on the first stage, and still no update on its mission and launching date have been unannounced by the officials yet. But the fans of space exploration will need not worry because it will be announced at the right time.
As per estimates, over $60 million will be the cost of mission, yet the team has still raised $15 million and aims that by September-October next year will be the raising of the remaining funds. As addition to this, Team Indus is backed up by the team of hundreds of engineers that aims to win $25 million Google Lunar XPRIZE tournament.
According to Google's website, "The Moon is not only our nearest planetary neighbor, but it is also the gateway to the rest of the uiniverse." Google's Lunar XPRIZE started back in the year 2007 and its goal is to include private associations in the space missions.
Will this be one of best achievements a company in India could have if it can launch the spacecraft successfully?
