Latest news suggests Nintendo Switch may be getting its own VR headset device soon. VR stands for Virtual reality. Supposed patent applications filed by the company with US PTO reveal such top news which may create new ripples in the market. It appears that the application was filed on June 10, 2016, itself but were only released recently.
The application explicitly mentions a "head mounter display" (HMD) into which the portable console could be inserted. This would mean a proper portable virtual reality experience for the gamers. The upcoming console's Joy-Con game controllers could then be utilized to navigate in the coming games. If the news is true, the other competitors like Microsoft and Sony should expect tough competition ahead of themselves.
Although the document doesn't explicit mention about a Nintendo Switch VR headset, it clearly reads that the HMD "may present images of a wide viewing angle to a user by enlarging the viewing angle of the images on the display 12 through the lenses." "This can enhance the sense of immersion for a user looking at the images," the application further states.
Not all the news is only about a fabled Nintendo Switch VR headset. It is also being speculated that the Nintendo Switch in itself will include a functional touch screen. The first news of the console having a touch screen interface was reported in October this year, but the news has not been confirmed by the Nintendo representatives.
"By no means was that everything," said Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima, after the initial reveal of the Nintendo Switch. He hinted that there could be more hardware attributes that anyone could have possibly originally imagined.
"It may be appropriate to call them accessories," he said. "Or it might be better to call them add-on hardware. It's probably more correct to call them accessories. You can assume that there will be a wider array."
Well, as we reported earlier, a proper and full-blown Nintendo Switch reveal is scheduled to happen this January 12, 2017. However, it has also been reported in the news that Nintendo Switch may be as good as a Sony PlayStation 4, if not inferior.
