It's certainly seems harmless for grandpa to want and put a little friction back in his sex life, but then, we're all guilty, young or old, of seeing "those" commercials. (And you know what we're talking about.) The ones where a ruggedly handsome older man is in an outdoor bathtub while side effects about "an erection lasting longer than four hours" spew out in a monotone voice. Well, a new report from the Food and Drug Administration warns that several of these supplements for sexual enhancement drugs may contain hidden ingredients with harmful risks-as if we had any doubt?

"These undeclared ingredients may interact with nitrates found in some prescription drugs, such as nitroglycerin, and may lower blood pressure to dangerous levels. Men with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or heart disease often take nitrates," the agency said on its website.

For instance, according to Fox News, a supplment called "Stiff Days" contains sildenafil, the active ingredient in prescription drug Viagra, which is used to treat erectile dysfunction; "Rock-It Man" contains a similar compound called hydroxythiohomosildenafil; and "Libido Sexual Enhancer" contains both of those ingredients as well as tadalafil, which is the active ingredient in the prescription drug Cialis.

Of course, you can find these products online and in some retail stores (or really, just about anywhere, depending on what exactly you're looking for.)

There is a growing trend in dietary supplements, often promoted for sexual enhancement, weight loss, and body building, to contain with hidden drugs and chemicals, although they are often represented as being "all natural," according to the agency.

Consumers should be careful about purchasing such products, the FDA said, because the agency is unable to test and identify all products on the market that are marketed as dietary supplements but have potentially harmful hidden ingredients.

So, before you wonder if you or your partner or whoever is really healthy enough for sexual activity, just figure out if you even want to take the risk.
