'Corona Proof' Things To Do with your Family during Christmas Holiday
If there's one thing we can all agree on, it's that 2020 was a year like no other. We all had to adapt in ways we couldn't imagine beforehand, and with the holidays coming up, we'll have to adapt some more. Luckily, there are still some things you can do with your family that are completely corona proof. These are our recommendations!
Family game night
If everyone is staying in the same 'bubble' in one house, that's the ideal moment for a family game night! Let everyone put their phones away for the night and bring out the games you used to play years ago. You can bet it's going to get competitive. Who is going to cry when they get hit with a +4 (or +12 if you use your own rules) in UNO? Or is someone a sneaky builder in Monopoly? Time to test it out!
If you're not together with family during this period, you can still play a lot of games. Because of the pandemic, many game companies have put in a lot of effort to create fun games that can be played online; for instance there are great online escape games. Does your family escape before the clock runs out?
Escape to the country
You know what's also super lovely? Going on a big walk with the entire family. Dress everyone up in a warm coat, ear muffs and mittens and go walk along the beach, in the woods or somewhere in the country where it's quiet and serene. Filling your lungs with fresh air will make you feel great and a good hike also feels lovely if you've been stuck at home too much during the last few months. If you live in the city and don't have a car, you can just rent a car for the day - that's even possible without a credit card (Dutch: auto huren zonder creditcard). Many car rental companies offer great deals on vans, you can for instance hire a van for a group (Dutch: 9 persoons bus huren) and rent a cabin somewhere in the woods so you can escape the city together.
Give each other DIY Christmas gifts
Maybe you used to DIY a lot when you were younger, but as you grow older, you just don't have time for it anymore. Free time with your family during the Christmas period is ideal for DIY projects. Maybe everyone can start crocheting and give each other fun beanies. There are lots of Christmas gifts ánd decorations you can DIY that are fun to do for young and old. Give the little ones of the family some glitter to decorate plastic baubles or bake christmas cookies that you all decorate together. Just like the good old days!
We hope you have a lovely time with your family!
