For some, the decision to undergo a plastic surgery treatment can enhance your look and improve overall self-esteem. However, freak accidents have been known to happen from time to time, and even for some, certain risky procedures can result in death.

Unfortunately, for one man in Tulsa, Okla., a rhinoplasty procedure left him without a nose.

When Vishal Thakkar went in for a routine nose job following his divorce in 2006, Thakkar said, according to MSNNow, that he had problems breathing after his first rhinoplasty. So, he went on another trip to see his doctor, Angelo Cuzalina, to have it fixed. Unfortunately, the problem persisted, and he kept going in for more surgical procedures-22 of them, in fact.

Thakkar said following a procedure in 2011, he discovered, allegedly, that his nose had been removed all together. He said the doctor had told him that there had been an infection and "since I was...unconscious he had to make the decision," Thakkar added, according to various reports.

He plans to have another surgeon fix what's left of his nose, according to The New York Daily News.

A report from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons shows that as of 2011, male participants accounted for 9 percent of all cosmetic procedures. That's the equivalent of approximately 1.2 million cosmetic procedures. Statistics show that 204,000 of them were surgical while 990,000 were minimally-invasive.

According to the organization, rhinoplasty also tops the chart as one of the top 5 surgical procedures seen in America, as of 2011.
