A 45-year-old woman from Pennsylvania claims to be obsessed with the vampire lifestyle, as she drinks two liters of blood from various volunteers every month and has been doing this for the past 30 years, reports IB Times.
Julia Caples, a care worker, is a real-life vampire and a mother of two kids named Alexi (11-year-old son) and Ariel (24-year-old daughter).
She looks out for donors from nearby local occult and oddities stores who allow her to drink from them. Claiming to be consuming two liters of blood each month, Caples believes that doing so helps her stay young and healthy, reports Blastr.
With the help of a sterilized knife that she designed herself, she makes an incision in the donor that makes it easy for her to drink the blood from them. Having done this for the past 30 years, she claims to be disease-free. At times, she consumes up to half a gallon of blood a month.
"When I feed off of a person and drink their blood I feel stronger and healthier," she was quoted as saying in The Mirror. "I know scientifically there's not lot nutrition in blood, but maybe there's some value we haven't discovered yet. I feel more beautiful than any other time when I'm regularly drinking. I'm extremely healthy with no major health problems and I have an abundance of energy all the time."
Caples claims to have developed this bizarre habitat ever since she was a young girl. She bit her boyfriend's lip during her first kiss and tasted his blood. Since then, the urge of tasting and drinking blood has never left her.
She didn't start drinking blood regularly until she met ex-husband Donald Lazarowicz, 49, who is a counselor. In October 2000, the two got married in a vampire-themed wedding where they drank from each other to celebrate. Soon, the couple was a part of the sub-culture vamp fan, visiting New York nightclubs and drinking from each other, reports The Sun.
When they had their son, Donald gave up this bizarre habitat to focus on full-time parenting and let Caples continue with her habitat.
Looking at their mother's obsession for blood, the kids begin to suspect that their mum was a vampire, as she keeps decorations like coffins and dolls around the house.
Caples is not alone in having such a strange addiction. Similar to her is 29-year-old Michelle, a tattoo artist from California who can't stay without drinking blood. She consumes 36 liters of pig plasma every week.
