Recently, the reality TV Star Kim Kardashian was in the headlines after she revealed plans of eating her own placenta after birth. The starlet is back in the news again after she battled the life threatening condition preeclampsia and went into a premature labour on Friday night.
The 32-year-old star went into labour five weeks early that ended with a dramatic delivery of a baby girl. The four-day-old baby girl has captured the media attention.
Kim was admitted to Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on June 14 and that day was the worst nightmare for her and boyfriend Kayne West, as she was informed by the doctors that she was suffering from the life-threatening condition preeclampsia.
Preeclampsia is a medical condition that is characterized by high blood pressure and protein in the urine of the pregnant woman. If this condition is not treated it can prove fatal. Symptoms include swelling especially in hands and face or edema. High blood pressure without protein in urine known is as gestational hypertension.
It is not yet confirmed whether or not Kim battled preeclampsia, but her swollen feet and features did indicate the condition say some medical experts.
"The condition can cause complications for other organs," Dr. Natalie K. Stevens of Upper East Side Women's Health, who is unaffiliated with Kim, was quoted in Daily News. "Women could have headaches, abdominal pain, issues with vision, among other things."
Due to the serious complication, Kim gave birth to her kid naturally at 37 weeks.
Kim Kardashian's sister, Khloe Kardashian, tweeted saying, "Mommy/baby are healthy&resting. More info will come when the time is right! Thank you all for understanding! We love you dearly! Overwhelmed with love right now?"
A source told E!, that the premature baby weighed under five pounds and has dark hair and features resembling Kim. They baby is in an incubator to regulate her body temperature.
One of the hospital sources says that the proud parents have nearly decided on a name. The name is most likely to begin with 'K' and they plan to keep Donda as the middle name as a tribute to Kanye's late mother.
