A free iphone app known as Clue could replace contraceptive pills and predict the times one can have sex without the risk of getting pregnant, reports Standard Media.
A young entrepreneur, Ida Tin , says that her innovation is the next best thing after the invention of the Pill in the 60s. The app, Clue, tracks a woman's menstrual cycle and predicts the time one can have sex without the fear of falling pregnant. The app can also predict the best time for a woman to get pregnant.
Clue is easily available in the Apple App Store. One can enter key details of the menstrual cycle in the app and it then learns to predict the fertility levels of the user.
"I think that we are moving towards technologies that work with the body, not against it. Quantified data about our fertility is a first step towards innovations that don't require you to take hormones. I think this is an incredibly exciting development, " said Tin in a press statement.
The 34-year-old Tin wants to change the family planning industry. This app is the first in a series of products launched by the company and the team is currently working on a hardware gadget in order to make the app accurate.
"Hundreds of women around the world have already tested the app, including designers from Apple, Frog, and IDEO,' said Mike LaVigne, former creative director at Frog Design in San Francisco, and now head of user experience at Clue, which is based in Berlin.
