New App That Helps People Cope With Low Moods
A new app has been launched to help people cope with low moods and can be downloaded at just $2.41.
Launched by the Mental Health Foundation in collaboration with the University of Bristol, the new app called 'HappyPlace' helps people cope with low moods and also assists in altering the cognitive processes that play a vital role in mental health.
"Depression and low mood make people see the world, and interpret social situations, differently......Our pioneering, research-based emotion recognition training program teaches people to see positive emotions in faces instead of negative emotions," Marcus Munafo, Professor of Biological Psychology at Bristol, said in a statement. "Recent research shows that this training encourages positive biases and we hope that our app proves useful for people wanting to better manage their low mood."
The timing for the app launch is just apt as the rate of depression, anxiety and stress is on a rise in several countries around the globe. This new app will help people manage their low mood in a positive way.
The app monitors moods with the help of questionnaires and diary function, which leads to better mood management with suggestions and associations from interesting events in the user's life to alter the moods.
Jenny Edwards, CEO of the Mental Health Foundation added, "Digital technology can play a vital role in helping make evidence-based therapies more accessible to more people. The Foundation has always championed making new evidence-based approaches and helped move them into the mainstream..."
The app is designed to assist people in changing negative emotions to positive and also help people live mentally healthier lives.
