If you've never been to the Netherlands, now there's an excellent excuse to hop on a plane. According to Oxfam, a health advocacy company comprised of 17 organizations that work to improve people's quality of life in over 90 countries, the researchers found the best places to live, according to healthy eating. What did they discover? The Netherlands comes in at No. 1.

To compose the list, researchers focused on the availability of fresh produce in the area, as well as clean water and protein nutrients. They also looked at the availability of affordable foods that were not as healthy.

France and Switzerland followed shortly after the number one spot for healthy eating out of over 125 countries.

It wasn't till spot 21 that the United States swooped in, tying with Japan. The bottom five countries were placed as Yemen, Madagascar, Angola, Ethiopia and Chad.

By analyzing data from eight reports provided by the World Health Organization (WHO), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the International Labor Organization, they found that overall, our nutritional system on earth is, well, a bit underwhelming.

"Basically, if you arrive from Mars and design a food system, you probably couldn't design a worse one than what we have today on Earth," Oxfam's Max Lawson said, via NPR. "There is enough food overall in the world to feed everyone. But 900 million people still don't have enough to eat, and 1 billion people are obese. It's a crazy situation."

He adds that, "Food is very, very cheap in the U.S. compared to most countries. But the fact is you end up with people malnourished in one of the richest countries because they don't have access to fresh vegetables at a cheap enough price to make a balanced diet. People think that hunger is inevitable, but that's just not true. There is enough food in the world to ensure that nobody goes to bed hungry."
