Sir Mix-A-Lot wasn't lying. American's like big round booties. And to get the ultimate behind, some of them are willing to go under the knife.

According to 2013 statistics from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), there were close to 10,000 butt lift procedures, with that number "twerking" from 8,500 in 2012.

"It's just amazing, the numbers," said Dr. Douglas Taranow, a board-certified plastic surgeon in New York City's Upper East, via NBC News. "It's with J. Lo, and Beyoncé, and everyone else having a great derriere. ... I think people see that and they want to mirror image it."

Based on various calculations, the organization found that, what's known as the Brazilian butt lift, has actually increased by nearly 16 percent. In fact, researchers also found that in 2013, 30 percent of plastic surgeons stated that they were doing butt augmentations. Just in 2012, that percentage was 19.

However, medical officials point out that butt lifts do not even come close to other surgical procedures, such as breast augmentations, which are 30 times greater. Other popular procedures include nose jobs, liposuction, facelifts and eyelid surgery.

"Plastic surgery used to be a reduction specialty; so, when we did nose jobs, we reduced the nose. But now, as we are more sensitive to ethnicity and different body types, we sometimes augment the nose. Well, same thing with the buttocks," said Dr. Robert X. Murphy, Jr., president of ASPS and a plastic surgeon in Bethlehem, PA., via the news organization.

Along with these procedures, researchers have found that Botox injections, soft tissue fillers and chemical peels are on the rise.
