Yellowstone Bison Migrate to Lower Elevation, Not Possible Volcanic Eruption (Video)
Many bison have been seen fleeing Yellowstone National Park. However, the nature organization is currently working to dispel myths that the supervolcano located in the park--also referred to as Yellowstone Supervolcano--may be about to erupt, causing the animals to leave.
Park spokesman Dan Hottle notes that it's perfectly normal for wildlife to find food at lower elevations that aren't covered with snow for this time of the year, via The Washington Post.
A YouTube video that was posted on March 20, just 10 days before a magnitude-4.8 earthquake hit the park, showed the animals fleeing from what some speculated could be a possible eruption of the park's volcano.
However, this week Yellowstone posted their own video showing that these bison may actually be running toward the park's interior and the volcano.
"We have seen no signs to suggest the Yellowstone volcano is about to erupt," said Yellowstone National Park Public Affairs Chief Al Nash.
When the snow melts, the animals are expected to return to the park.
