For most of us, we can't go a single day without some sugar. It's in just about everything we consume unfortunately. Yet for one family in particular, they imposed a "year of no sugar" rule.

For the Schaubs', they cut out a list of 13 added sweeteners commonly found in every-day products. More to the point, this included several types of sugar, high fructose corn syrup, artificial sweeteners, agave, fruit juice and even honey. To document their journey, they even highlighted this diet in their new book, "Year of No Sugar," according to The State Column.

As sugar may typically be found in the average diet, too much can be particularly detrimental to your health. For example, sugar has often been associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease to certain diabetic condtions.

"We had no problems that we were looking to solve," said Schaub, via The Boston Globe. "We didn't need to lose weight, and we were all pretty fit and healthy."

Yet their family still reaped the benefits of less sugar. For instance, a diet of less sugar also meant more energy.

At the end of their journey, however, Eve Schaub, the mother who began the diet, suggests that though cutting sugar out of can be helpful, it is not necessarily the cure to all health issues.
