New York Teenager's Severed Arm Reattached Following Pasta Machine Accident (Video)

Brette Bouchard, whose arm was torn off weeks ago when he cleaned out a pasta machine at work, can now move it again after undergoing multiple reattachment surgeries.

I'm feeling great," the 17-year-old said, via The New York Daily News. "Every single day, just focused on my recovery and getting better."

Bochard, of Massena, N.Y., has now undergone a total of four operations to correct what happened during the accident. That's more than 40 hours at Massachusetts General Hospital. After his right arm was severed below the elbow, he was promptly flown into the hospital for the surgeries.

Bouchard's mother, Rebecca, is astonished by her son's recovery.

"I'm truly amazed about what they have done so far," she said, via ABC News. "It's amazing, it's a miracle."

As most severed limb cases result in amputation, Dr. Kyle Eberline, one of the surgeons who helped with the recovery process, said that Bouchard should be able to live a relatively normal life.

"He has a long life ahead of him and you want to give him the best possible outcome," said Dr. Kyle Eberlin, one of the surgeons who operated on Bouchard. "He is able to withstand all the other parts of surgery, the ICU care afterward perhaps better than someone who is significantly older."

Bouchard will be discharged from the hospital within the next few days. Following, he will remain in Boston rehabilitation, and may require one to two more operations over the next 4 to 8 months.
